CHIRP – Episode 2: Discussions at the Abilities Expo Conference
In this episode of the Georgia Tech Research Institute Podcast, Georgia Tech staffers Fran, Salimah and Melissa discuss the work of the Consortium for Helping Improve Research Participation (CHIRP) and their conversations at the Abilities Expo Conference.
The episode involved open discussions at the conference and how increasing research participation matters, especially among underrepresented communities, including people with disabilities from diverse backgrounds. Fran, Salimah and Melissa talk about the importance of making research more inclusive, the historical reasons some communities may distrust research, and how conferences help bring thoughts and ideas together.
