Scott Ward is the director of the Electronic Systems (ELSYS) Laboratory at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). ELSYS is an applied research and development laboratory focused on end-user solutions with the life-cycle in mind, specializing in systems engineering, test engineering, and technology insertion. In this role he manages operations for a 500-person unit at 12 locations across the Unites States and $165M-$250M in annual research awards.
Scott previously served as the Chief of the Signals and Systems Division in GTRI’s Advanced Concepts Laboratory, where he led 35 researchers specializing in Modeling, Simulation & Analysis, Model-Based Systems Engineering, and Operations in the Information Environment. Prior to joining GTRI, he served for 24+ years in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot, with operational and test & evaluation experience in the F-15C and F-16. He is a graduate of the USAF Weapons School, has over 2,500 flight hours, and held multiple staff positions at the Major Command and Joint levels, including Air Combat Command and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.
