Scott Ward is the director of the Electronic Systems (ELSYS) Laboratory at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI).
ELSYS is an applied research and development laboratory with a vision to serve the public interest as the Government’s premier national security partner, delivering innovative electronic systems through applied research, and creating a future where US warfighters have an unmatched advantage. The 500 researchers and staff in the lab specialize in legacy system modernization, electronic warfare test engineering, open systems standards and architectures, and digital, mission, and model-based systems engineering.
Ward previously served as the Chief of the Signals and Systems Division in GTRI’s Advanced Concepts Laboratory, where he led 35 researchers specializing in Modeling, Simulation & Analysis, Model-Based Systems Engineering, and Operations in the Information Environment. Prior to joining GTRI in 2016, he served for 24+ years in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot, with operational and test & evaluation experience in the F-15C & F-16. He commanded at the squadron and group levels, is a graduate of the USAF Weapons School, and held multiple staff positions at the Major Command and Joint levels, including Air Combat Command and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.
