Danny Browne is the Director of the Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL) at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI).
Browne first joined GTRI as a Graduate Research Assistant in 2010, transitioning to a full-time Research Engineer I in 2011. He has held people leadership roles of Associate Branch Head, Branch Head, Associate Division Chief, and Systems Engineering Research Division (SERD) in the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering from Georgia Tech and more recently completed an MBA at Kennesaw State University.
Browne’s research interests lie at the intersection of strategic decision support, model-based systems engineering, modeling and simulation, and applied artificial intelligence. He has led teams in the development of analysis frameworks for platform, mission, and portfolio-level management to understand the tradespace between capability, cost, and capacity. He brings expertise in the application of tradespace analysis tools and methodologies, such as Set-Based Design (SBD), as well as experience in sponsored program development for nascent technology application, such as model-based and digital engineering for modernization of systems engineering processes. Through his sponsored research, Browne has been a representative of GTRI innovation and an advisor to senior Navy leadership.
As the ICL Lab Director, Browne works with the ICL leadership team to direct the lab’s information sciences research mission, coordinate sponsor engagement, collaborate with other GTRI labs, and maximize the impact of ICL’s research.
