CIPHER's Resilient Infrastructure and Supply Chain (RISC) unit specializes in fundamental research and development focused on cyber-physical energy systems. RISC incorporates novel material fabrication and characterization, with system-level, life-cycle models. With a diverse sponsor base including federal, state, and industry organizations, RISC engineers and scientists utilize a multi-disciplinary approach to address sponsor needs. Technical areas of expertise include: electrochemical energy storage, microelectronic design and fabrication, manufacturing design and cost optimization, and sustainable system modeling of the built environment. For more information, visit: https://energy.gtri.gatech.edu/
The RISC unit has strong ties to GT resident instruction including sponsored research collaborations, and adjunct positions. Primary units of collaborations include: Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Architecture, and Computer Science. Many RISC faculty teach undergraduate or graduate courses, including VIPs and Continuing Education. In addition, RISC is very involved in K-12 outreach and STEM@GTRI activities.
