75th Anniversary Alumni Brunch and Lab Tours

The GTRI 75th Anniversary Alumni Brunch and Lab Tours event served as a "family reunion" for GTRI retirees, former employees and former students. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues. The brunch was followed by a poster session showcasing current GTRI research and tours of the Information Technology and Telecommunications Laboratory. The event wrapped up with the world premiere of the 75th Anniversary Video and a State of GTRI address delivered by GTRI Director Stephen Cross and Deputy Directors Lisa Sills and Tom McDermott.

75th Anniversary Legislative Breakfast

GTRI was established by the Georgia Legislature in 1919, and began operation in 1934. This event was a celebration of the tremendous impact the impact the organization has had on the state of Georgia over the past 75 years. It included a breakfast, poster session and reading of commemorative resolutions in the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia Senate.

1st Annual Shackelford Showcase

The Shackelford Showcase was the first annual presentation of projects by graduate students participating in the Robert G. Shackelford Graduate Fellows Program. During his 34 year GTRI career Bob Shackelford encouraged laboratories to create research assistantships for graduate students and helped recruit promising graduate students at Georgia Tech to research positions at GTRI.

75th Anniversary Technology Symposium

The 75th Anniversary Technology Symposium was an opportunity to feature some of the exciting research taking place at GTRI, while exploring the vital role applied research plays at Georgia Tech today and impact it will continue to have in the future. Keynote speakers were Georgia Tech President, Dr. G.P. "Bud" Peterson and Georgia Tech Vice President / GTRI Director, Dr. Stephen E. Cross. The event also included a poster session and VIP luncheon.

The 75th Anniversary Employee and Family Picnic was a way to thank current and past GTRI employees for their contributions to the organization's impact and success. More than 1,100 people attended took part in the day of fun, food and excitement at amazing Stone Mountain Park.
