Atlantic Corridor has, over the last number of years, forged strong links between their own organization and that of Georgia Tech. This mutually beneficial relationship has seen the roll out of the first D2D project in the EU with students from Killina Presentation School accessing science classes with scientists and researchers through video conferencing with the Georgia Institute of Technology which means they now enjoy weekly classes in nanotechnology and astronomy, to name just two subjects.

Speaking about the appointment to the board  Jackie Gorman CEO of Atlantic Corridor said "Dr. Stephen Cross was an obvious choice for an international Board Member for Atlantic Corridor. Dr. Cross has assisted the development of key projects that add value to STEM education system in our schools amongst other projects. Atlantic Corridor is very proud of its association with Georgia Tech and we warmly welcome Dr. Cross's input in the future to our own agency."

Dr. Stephen Cross commented "The  role of the Atlantic Corridor in forging strategic links between the US, Canada and the Midlands of Ireland has produced significant and mutually beneficial enhancements for business as well as enhancements to education.  Having worked closely with several of its principals over the years,  it is a great honour and personal pleasure to be invited to join the Board of Atlantic Corridor.   The Georgia Institute of Technology has benefited from many excellent collaborations the Atlantic Corridor has helped us establish in the Midlands.  My hope is that I can reciprocate in some small way through service on the Board."

Dr. Stephen Cross also holds faculty appointments as a Professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and as an Adjunct Professor in the College of Computing and the College of Management.  Within Georgia Tech, he serves on the President's Cabinet and on the advisory board for the Georgia Tech-Emory Collaboration for Regenerative Medicine.  He served as a Vice President and Director of the Georgia Tech Research Institute from 2003 until to assuming his current position in 2010.

Dr. Cross is a member of the Defense Science Board and also serves on the advisory board for the Alabama A&M Research Institute.  A past member of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board, Dr. Cross has supported numerous studies by the National Research Council, testified to Congress on several occasions, and served as a consultant to many government and industry organizations.  He has published widely on artificial intelligence, software engineering, and technology transition.  Dr. Cross is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and a former editor-in-chief of IEEE Intelligent Systems.  He is currently an Associate Editor of the online Journal of Information, Knowledge, and Systems Management.
